Trivia, what is it.
===================
Trivia is an online version of the game trivial persuit. The program asks
questions and the player has to pick the right answer in a multiple choice
fashion.
This version of TRIVIA runs under RA, SBBS and QBBS. Has multiline support,
multilanguage support, Does it's own AVATAR/ANSI/ANSI-music support.
Has the most usefull sysop keys. (Sorry, I don't consider a chat function
very important for a door..;) Has Desqview support, UserOn support etc. etc.
See the QBBS.DOC and SBBS.DOC for some extra info for those BBStypes.
How to install it:
==================
Quite simple. Make a type 7 entry with the following commandline in the
optional data field:
<Path>\TRIVIA.EXE -P:*P -N:*N
and everything should work. There are some more parameters though:
-P: CommPort number to use (Default is commport in the config.ra)
-N: Nodenumber to use (Default is node 1)
-T: Limit available time in door. (Default is Exitinfo.bbs value: -T:*T)
-NOS No local sound for default. (Default is sounds on!)
-AKA Uses the user's handle instead of his real name for the hall of fame.
-ASK Ask the use for a name to use in the hall of fame.
You can also use TRIVIA -? to see a short "How to use" screen.
Other info:
===========
* See the online help for info on the menu. Don't think you need it though.
* To get into the hall of fame a use has to answer at least 30 questions
or ALL the questions if there are less then 30.
* Once a use qualifies for the Hall of fame, he or she can't play the same
questionnaire again before some other user played trivia on the same node.
This is a simple protection against players keep on trying until they
have a 100% score.
* Every user can enter the Hall of fame only once for a certain questionnaire

Extra utils:
============
TRIC.ZIP This zipfile contains the trivia file compiler, an example
and a conversion program to convert SpitFire trivia files
to the format used by TRIC.EXE. Making a TRI file is a lot of
work. If you know who the original author of a Spitfire file
is, please give him/her the credits for the work!
TRICONV.EXE Converts old trivia file (Very old by now!) into the new format.
Usage: TRICONV <FileSpec>
TESTTRI.EXE Some people told me that some TRI files weren't recogniced. You
can check files with TestTri. If a file fails, first try TriConv
If that doesn't work, tell me about it.

Use this door on your own risk. If you break it you own both pieces.
ShareWare:
==========
Or better, supportware.. If you continue to use this door you have two
choices. Send $10,- (Yep, FIVE dollars..;-) to the adres below. The same
amount in your local currency is ok with me too, as long as it's not a bag
full of the smallest coins your country has.
Of course my supportboards can also help you to get registered. See the
Support.doc file for their addresses.
Oh, and please also give me a nodenumber where I can send a message
confirming the money and to send my thanks for the support!
My address is:
Gerhard Hoogterp FidoNet: 2:283/1.2
Kremersmaten 108 BitNet: HOOGTERPG@HENUT5 or

The Netherlands
Giro: 1806776
An other way of registering is to produce a TRIVIA data file. The datafile
needs at least 50 questions and may be in any language you like. You don't
have to send the source file. The TRI file alone is OK. This file should
be uploaded to my supportboard in Holland. A message or email telling me
so would be appriciated. Oh, 2 files with 25 questions each.. oh well.. Ok.
But DON'T make them smaller!! (At least not while trying to get registered!)
See the file support.doc for my dutch supportboard. Here you can find a
nice area full with my other software and TRI files too!!
Last words:
===========
Special thanks to my beta testers:
Jos Bergman, Frank Hemmelder, Sander Eek and Jan Derk Otter.
And an extra thank you for Mathieu Chappuis (2:325/100) who did send me the
french language files!
and thanks to you for trying out Trivia!
Gerhard.
